"Gatos de luz" is a documentary project about electricity supply in Rio das Pedras, a favela in Rio de Janeiro. Gatos, literally “cats,” is a Brazilian term for the unofficial and often illegal connections made to legal sources of electricity, water, cable TV etc. in favelas and other areas.

"Gatos de luz" is a documentary project by Lena Weiss (director) and Carolina Steinbrecher (director of photography). We filmed for almost three weeks in the favela "Rio das Pedras" in Rio de Janeiro and are currently in the process of post-production.
